George Williamson has won the GENESIS INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION 2017 with his ballet Wonderers at Milwaukee Ballet.

“Williamson’s “Wonderers” combined striking, short, solo moments, danced in single shards of white light, stage-filling ensemble bits, with movements ranging from angular, arresting poses-in-motion, to sinewy, long gestures, and driving, urgent physicality, punctuated by articulate, meaningful pas de deux—the movement and music seemed inseparable at times.”
Elaine Schmidt – Journal Sentinel Milwaukee

Strangers, New English Ballet Theatre, 2016

“This brought a new angle to a familiar narrative, creating satisfying, polished, beautifully performed and nuanced dance. There is real depth to this choreography—creating emotional resonance and some exquisite visual compositions. This piece was the one I took away with me, with so many images and memories fixed in my mind. I would love to see this again.”

Firebird, English National Ballet, 2012
“It’s a very young man’s viewpoint on ballet – more about physical glitter and styling, more about swagger than about magic. But boy, what confidence. George Williamson is undoubtedly a talent to watch.”
